Kultur ist mehr

Veranstalter: KlangForum Heidelberg

"Culture Is More" is a new coalition of all cultural institutions in Heidelberg that aim to collectively highlight what culture means to the city’s community.
The current situation with the city budget poses enormous challenges for cultural professionals. While program planning for 2025 and 2026 had long been finalized, the city council decided in early October that, in the area of "discretionary spending," cuts of 5% must be implemented for all cultural and social institutions, among other measures. Of course, this is far too late to cancel the concerts in December that have already been contractually agreed upon or to unbook the musicians despite their existing commitments. So what can be done in such a short time?

On November 29 – 30, 2025, there will be a long weekend of culture in Heidelberg: visibility instead of resignation, creative expression instead of discouragement.
The KlangForum Heidelberg invites you on Sunday, November 30, at 5 p.m. to a cultural-political Advent sing-along with coffee and mulled wine at our rehearsal center in the BetriebsWerk – admission is free.

J. Marc Reichow will present pagan end-of-year Colinde chants from Romania, collected by Béla Bartók.
After a brief introductory talk on our current situation and the general state of cultural policy, the floor will be open to you, because a diversity of opinions is essential for a vibrant KlangForum.
Afterward (or even in between, to lighten the mood), we’ll sing Advent carols together in harmony—voluntarily, of course, but under the thorough and cheerful direction of Ekkehard Windrich.

Heidelberg’s cultural scene stands united, because "Culture is more"!
