As part of the event "Music in Context: Zimmermann" on October 12, 2018, Bettina Zimmermann, the composer’s daughter, will present her joint book project with music editor Rainer Peters, "con tutta forza – Bernd Alois Zimmermann / A Personal Portrait" (Wolke Verlag, 2018), at the BETRIEBSWERK in Heidelberg. Three musicians from the ensemble aisthesis will perform Zimmermann’s 1961 piano trio "Présence"; the so-called radio version (with narrator) of this exceptional chamber music work, enriched with theatrical and literary elements, will be heard. "Mimosen," a commissioned work by Jan Kopp – a student of Rihm and Lachenmann – for voices and cello, incorporates not only a personal note by Zimmermann but also one of his "Four Short Studies" for cello. In addition to this world premiere from the series "In Memory of Bernd Alois Zimmermann," the program features his arrangements of German folk songs for vocal quartet.
