About the event
8:15 p.m. Conversation with composer Jose Maria Sánchez-Verdú at Peterskirche
The Schwetzingen Festival and the Heidelberg Spring Festival follow one another in quick succession every year: as the spring comes to an end, Schwetzingen begins. We would like to make this impressive festival continuum more tangible. At the 2018 Schwetzingen Festival, a new stage work by the Spanish composer Jose Maria Sanchez-Verdú will receive its world premiere: ARGO (Dramma in musica). We are building a bridge to this event with this portrait concert. Sanchez-Verdú is a composer who draws inspiration in many ways from music history, particularly from the early music of the Iberian Peninsula. Klangforum Heidelberg therefore contrasts Sanchez-Verdu’s works with those of the old masters of Spain and Portugal: Victoria and Cardoso.
