On Saturday, the 10th of October 2026, the historic railroad water tower will be transformed into a venue for art, culture, and social gatherings: The TANKTURMFEST 2026 will feature a diverse program.

Once again this year, the TANKTURMFEST offers an exciting tour through the tower. Across five levels, guests can enjoy short art, dance, poetry, and music performances, which are presented in rotation throughout the evening. This allows visitors to tailor their evening to their own preferences and put together their own mix of performances:

Tonight, the KlangForum Heidelberg will present compositions by Oxana Omelchuk, who was awarded the City of Heidelberg’s 2026 Artist Award:

Oxana Omelchuk lives and works as a composer and musician in Cologne. However, she was born and raised in Belarus; she still maintains a personal connection to her homeland, and this very clearly shapes her thinking and artistic work. In her own unique way—operating somewhat independently of the mainstream music scene—Oxana Omelchuk is an important voice who actively follows world events, integrates them into her work, and takes a stance on them that is as powerful as it is poetic.

Voices like these are more important today than ever, and they must continue to reach a large audience! This is one of the reasons—but above all because of her multi-layered and sensuous musical language—that she was awarded the City of Heidelberg’s honor this year.
