Gustav Mahler: Songs from “Des Knaben Wunderhorn” Part 1

To mark the anniversary of the collection published in Heidelberg in 1806 as “Des Knaben Wunderhorn” (The Boy's Magic Horn), KlangForum Heidelberg commissioned three contemporary composers to create new arrangements (instrumentations of songs originally composed by Gustav Mahler with piano accompaniment only). The songs were then performed under the direction of Walter Nußbaum in Heidelberg and at venues including the Konzerthaus Berlin and in Basel, together with the chamber version of Mahler's Fourth Symphony. Ruth Ziesak was the soprano soloist in each case.
