The Heidelberg Theater and Orchestra has announced the winner of the 2026 Heidelberg Artist Award. KlangForum Heidelberg has been a member of the large jury for many years, and we are delighted that the award has gone to Belarusian composer Oxana Omelchuk, who has lived in Cologne for many years.
On the occasion of the award ceremony, SCHOLA HEIDELBERG, together with the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform Omelchuk's work “und alle flieger fliegen nach minsk” (and all planes fly to Minsk) for vocal ensemble and orchestra. The piece will be the centerpiece of the 5th Philharmonic Concert “CIEL D'HIVER” on February 25 and 26, 2026, at the Stadthalle Heidelberg. Ekkehard Windrich will be responsible for rehearsals, and guest conductor Ruth Reinhardt will conduct the evenings.
The collaboration with the Philharmonic Orchestra, not only on this project, characteristically expresses a core idea of our work, namely the promotion of contemporary music in the organic fabric of open and interdisciplinary urban cultural life.
The concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk and broadcast in the Konzertdokument der Woche series.
The event is sold out, remaining tickets may be available at the box office.
