The project "Confucius and the New World Order" in June raises the question of the diversity of human images in a global comparison, particularly currently manifested in the greatest conceivable transcultural distance, the encounter with China: in a program conceived in collaboration with the CATS (Center for Asian and Transcultural Studies) / Institute of Sinology at the University of Heidelberg (Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler) featuring works by composers of Chinese descent, either directly or indirectly, partially incorporating Chinese instruments and techniques, essential aspects of different cultural concepts and esthetics are expressed; from the confrontation of two world premieres by Chinese composers - SHEN Ye, born in 1977 in Shanghai and now a composition professor there, and Haosi Howard CHEN, born in 1991 there but having migrated to the USA early and recently trained by Wolfgang Rihm – with vocal music of the Renaissance and traditional works for Chinese instruments, essential aspects of transculturality are highlighted.
