"Scholium 2" by Dániel Péter Biró opens the 4th Nikolausberger Musiktage in Göttingen, which this year is dedicated to the theme of "Questions of Faith." Biró explores the role of the individual in the face of societal shifts toward fascism and dictatorship – a highly topical issue. The KlangForum Heidelberg and the Nikolausberger Musiktage explore the experience of totalitarian subjugation in relation to human servitude and powerlessness, as well as to hope and daring in everyday life. The Kyrie call from the Mass serves as a point of reference, accompanied by contrasting works of early music, including pieces by Johannes Ockeghem, Frei Manuel Cardoso, and Joseph Haydn.
