Julie Catherine
Mezzosopran
Julie Catherine is a mezzo-soprano with an atypical style. She sings an eclectic repertoire ranging from early music and songs to contemporary works. She expresses herself without codes or boundaries, offering her audience innovative musical experiences, enjoying playing with the instrumental, scenographic, or sensory aspects of her concerts. She also has a special affinity for literature and a deep connection to the texts she interprets.
Julie Catherine is a prize winner of the Fondation Royaumont and regularly participates in chamber concerts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, where she has sung Le Marteau sans maître by Boulez under the direction of Joseph Bastian, among other works. She interprets Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde under the direction of Walter Nussbaum and shares the stage with Julian Prégardien at the Schwetzingen SWR Festival. The project was supported by the organization “Momentum: our future, now,” founded by Barbara Hannigan, of which Julie Catherine is a member. During her academic career, she completed a master's degree with Julian Prégardien and Christian Gerhaher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and an Erasmus study program at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in Valérie Guillorit's class.
She has been active in SCHOLA HEIDELBERG since 2022.
